Webster City, Iowa

WEBSTER CITY – A Webster City man facing drug charges barricaded himself in a house as cops converged, and a K9 team entered to extract him.

On March 30, 2022 at 1417 hours, officers with the Webster City Police Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant on 44-year-old Gabriel Allen Pelz for violating a condition of release for an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Officers observed Pelz on the property at 109 Apple Avenue in Webster City. When Pelz was approached by officers, he fled into the residence and barricaded himself. After attempts to have Pelz exit the residence were unsuccessful, a negotiator from the Iowa Department of Public Safety was requested at the scene.

After negotiation attempts were unsuccessful, a K9 team from the Iowa State Patrol entered the residence and was able to locate Pelz at 6:04 PM. Pelz was placed under arrest without further incident and transported to the Hamilton County Jail. No Injuries were reported. This incident remains under investigation and additional criminal charges are possible. The Webster City Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Division of Motor Vehicle Enforcement and Van Diest Medical Center Paramedics.
