OBIT: Marjorie Andersen

Marjorie Andersen, age 96, of Gilmore City passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Gilmore City. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time at the church.

Marjorie Jean Oregon, the daughter of Ellis and Iva (Smith) Oregon, was born on August 10, 1925 in Smithland, Iowa. She graduated from Smithland High School in 1942. On August 21, 1943 Marjorie was united in marriage with William Andersen. Marjorie worked for Boeing Aircraft in Washington on 747 Jets and then as a clerk for the Ida Grove Grocery Store. They lived and raised their 2 kids, Wayne and Merilee in Ida Grove. In 1977, they moved to Gilmore City. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Mapleton. Marjorie loved her family and friends, dancing, playing cards and vacationed her whole life.

Left to cherish Marjorie’s memory is her daughter-in-law, Audrey Andersen of Gilmore City; 4 grandchildren, Scott, Iva, Wayne Jr. (Shannon) and Michelle Andersen; 6 great grandchildren, Zachary, Carolyn, Samantha, Zoe, Zander and Zeke. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William in 1996; daughter, Merilee Andersen; son Wayne Andersen; brothers, Guy and Lawrence Oregon; and a sister, Lois Rupp.
