DES MOINES – A missing Iowa man was found deceased in a river over the weekend.
On March 4, 2022, at approximately 1:21 PM, first responders from the West Des Moines responded to 8000 Raccoon River Drive to investigate a report of a vehicle and a deceased person being found in a creek bed.
Upon arrival, officers determined that the vehicle was the grey-colored 2016 Jeep Cherokee that missing person Matthew Ryan O’Dell was last seen driving. He had been reported missing from Des Moines on January 25, 2022.
Identification materials found with the deceased person belong to Matthew Ryan O’Dell.
Identification confirmation, and cause and manner of death rulings (including consideration of pre- existing medical conditions), will be made following autopsy.
