AMES – An Iowa dad was arrested for allegedly trying to murder his son over loud music.
On February 9th at 8:06 AM, Ames police were notified of a shooting that occurred at 624 Duff Avenue in Ames. Officers interviewed the victim who stated that his father fired two to three bullets at him after an argument over loud music. The rounds did not strike the victim and he was not injured.
Officers conducted a search warrant at the scene and confirmed gun shots were fired. Officers recovered a firearm, bullets, and bullet fragments from the defendant’s home. Officers quickly determined there was no threat to the public as this was a family dispute.
The suspect was identified as Major Robinson, age 69, was placed under arrest and charged with the following crimes:
• Attempted Murder, a class B felony
• Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor
