OBIT: Courtney Nierling

Courtney Kay Nierling, 30, of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at her home.

A funeral Mass for Courtney will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

Visitation will be held at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2022, with a celebration immediately following at the Youth Enrichment Center in Charles City, Iowa at the Floyd County Fairgrounds.
Visitation will also continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Courtney was the daughter of Darlene Nierling and the late Clinton Nierling. She was born on July 19, 1991 in Storm Lake, Iowa. Courtney graduated from Charles City High School in 2009 and then went on to Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She had a passion for serving others while working at Bricks, Bushwood, and Black Sheep Social Club in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, but most recently found her calling by being an exceptional florist at Crossroads Hy-Vee in Waterloo, Iowa.

Courtney was the best of friends to many and was always there to help them in any way. She was an extremely hard worker as it showed through all aspects of her daily life. Courtney loved being with family and friends, traveling, and soaking up the sun any chance she got. Although she did not have any children, her heart was filled with love for her three cats Salem, Stella, and Shiloh.

Courtney is survived by her mother, Darlene Nierling of Charles City, Iowa; sister Makayla Nierling (fiancé Conor Sherman) of Waukee, Iowa; maternal grandparents Kay Deist of Charles City, Iowa, and Larry Thoman (Karen Stultz), Mabelvale, Arkansas; maternal great grandmother Bernie Kraus of Charles City, Iowa; and many close family members.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clinton Nierling; sister, Makinzey Nierling; maternal grandparent, Dick Deist; paternal grandparents, Chuck Nierling and Mary Jo Nierling; as well as many other loved ones.

Memorials may be directed to the family in memory of Courtney Nierling.
