OBIT: Kenneth “Kenny” Holzer

Kenneth “Kenny” Holzer, 73, of Charles City, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at the Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home in Charles City. A Celebration of Life will start at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the VFW in Charles City.

Kenneth “Kenny” Adrian Holzer was born November 14, 1948, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Gilbert “Gib” and Dorothy (Hemann) Holzer. He graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School in 1966. He served in the Marine Corps and then came home to raise a family and farm. Kenny was united in marriage to Debra A. (Walters) Holzer on August 12, 1972. From this union three children were born: Brian, Brad, and Keri. They later divorced in 2008.

Kenny was a lifelong member of the VFW in Charles City where he served in various roles such as the Commander and a then a member of the board. Some of his favorite past times were tractor pulling with his children, playing cards, camping, and spending time with family and friends. His real joys in life were his kids and spending time with his grandkids.

Kenny is survived by his three children: Brian Holzer of Newell, South Dakota,
Brad (Staci) Holzer of Floyd, and Keri (Dan) Tucke of Osage; five grandchildren: Anna
Hull, Joe Holzer, Will Holzer, Patrick Holzer, and Emily Holzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gib and Dorothy Holzer; sisters: Sandy Dohlman and Jean Bensend; and a brother, Ronnie Holzer.
