Ken was born on January 22, 1966 in Iowa City, Iowa to Burton Merle and Doris Marie (Bell) Hines. He graduated from Iowa Falls High School. On June 18, 1988 he was united in marriage to Darla (Wagoner) Hines and to their union two children Dustin and Heather were born.

Ken’s life revolved around his family, friends and driving truck. Ken absolutely loved driving truck. He was an extremely hard-worker and provider for his family. He loved his family unconditionally and he was an incredible husband, dad and grandpa of baby boy, Brooks Kenneth Boettcher; which he was so proud of. He also loved his grand-dogs very much.

Ken enjoyed fishing trips with his family and friends to places like Lake Mille Lacs, Table Rock and Branson, MO. He liked traveling and most recently took a trip with his wife Darla to Nashville. They also frequently visited Fort Myers Beach, FL; Ken’s favorite place was Florida and joked he had an extensive list of people who could visit his timeshare. Ken had a great sense of humor and was always cracking jokes. He was never afraid to speak his mind, even if you didn’t want to hear it. Underneath his sometimes tough exterior was a man who was fearlessly loyal to his friends and family. Ken was always quick to help others and lend a hand. He was a down to earth guy who liked the simple things in life such as having a cold one with his friends or spending time out in his shop. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and Iowa State Cyclones fan. Ken lived his life to the fullest; he worked hard but he also knew how to have a good time when he was in the company of his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Darla Hines of Mason City; son, Dustin (Emily) Hines of Glen Allen, VA; daughter, Heather (Dylan) Boettcher of Mankato, MN; infant grandson, Brooks Kenneth Boettcher; brother, Merle (LaVonne) Hines of Kirksville, MO; sister, Juanita Bekx of Keokuk, IA; half-brother, Jeremy Hines of Thornton, IA; parents-in-law, Dale and Marcia Wagoner of Lawler, IA; sister-in-law, Tara Jirak of New Hampton; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was reunited in heaven with his mother, Doris (Robert) Hodge and father, Burton “Burt” Hines.
