Jeanette A. “Hedy” Runde, 90, of Mason City and longtime resident of McIntire, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Manly Specialty Care in Manly.
A Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Meyer. A Livestream of Jeanette’s service will be available through the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel Facebook page.
Jeanette’s family will greet friends from 10:00 am until the service time at the funeral home on Thursday.
The daughter of Olaf and Esther (Velde) Northouse, Jeanette Aileen was born on January 21, 1931 in Mable, Minnesota. She grew up in Mable, alongside her brother, Wallace, and graduated from Mable High School. Following High School Jeanette enrolled in business school.
On October 31, 1953 she was united in marriage to Robert Runde and together they would be blessed with two sons, Jerry and Denny.
For many years Jeanette worked at Sandie’s Grocery Store and Locker in LeRoy as a clerk. She then accepted a position as book keeper with the LeRoy Co Op Grain Elevator where she worked for nearly 25 years prior to her retirement. Never one to stay still, Jeanette soon began working “part time” for the Red Owl Grocery Store in LeRoy for several years.
In earlier years Jeanette enjoyed dancing with Robert and meeting her friends for coffee on Saturday mornings. As the years went on she moved to Mason City to be near Denny and his family. Most recently she loved working her puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, and watching game shows.
Those grateful in sharing in her life are her sons, Jerry (Tiffany) Runde, Hartford, IL, and Denny (Cindi) Runde, Mason City; grandchildren, Jason, Dan, Lisa, Kim, Maisie, and Katelyn; several great grandchildren; and her brother, Wallace Northouse.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; and granddaughter, Mickey Runde.
