College Basketball: Iowa State 51, Texas Tech 47

AMES – Iowa State eked out a win over a muscular Texas Tech, 51-47, Wednesday night in a home Big 12 matchup in frigid Ames.

Two of the top defensive teams you will find honed in and made it difficult for either opponent to score.  Iowa State built an early lead in the game and held a 30-19 lead at intermission.  The Cyclones opened the second half without a basket for over 6 minutes, allowing Tech to finally gain a lead at 42-40 – but it only lasted 26 seconds.  Isaiah Brockington’s clutch 4-point play put the Cyclones back in front to stay.

Tech made just 6 of 15 free throws, while Iowa State made 14-19 – perhaps the difference in the game.

Next up for Iowa State is Oklahoma on Saturday in Norman, OK.
