OBIT: Arlene D. Rafdal

A funeral service for Arlene Rafdal of Titonka, will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Ramsey Reformed Church in rural Titonka. Burial will be in the Church cemetery. Her family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Arlene Dorothy Rafdal was born March 17, 1928, in rural Titonka, daughter of Arnold H. and Sadie (Huisman) Gray. She attended country school in German Valley and then worked for her family on the farm until her marriage.

Arlene married Vern Kenneth Rafdal on September 11, 1947, at Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka. She worked at the Titonka Topic for many years and also for Oakcrest Funeral Services of Titonka. Arlene enjoyed doing handwork. She loved being surrounded by her grandchildren. She was an active member of Ramsey Reformed Church teaching Sunday school for 28 years and reading her devotions daily.

Arlene died Monday, December 20, 2021, at the Titonka Care Center at the age of 93. She had been a resident there since November of 2014.

She is survived by three children, Dennis (Ginny) Rafdal of Ankeny, Donna (Roger) Wubben of Algona, and Garwin (Chlea) Rafdal of Everly; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Huesman of Titonka; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Gray-Johnson of Buffalo Center; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vern on February 4, 1983; a son, Gary; brothers, Richard, Vernon, Lester, Alvin, Lloyd, and Larry; and a sister Lois Behrends.
