OBIT: Tillie Geikek

Tillie Geiken, 86, of Ackley, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at Eldora Specialty Care. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. A private burial will take place at the West Friesland Cemetery.

Tillie Harmina Geiken was born on July 23, 1935 in Dumont, Iowa to John Henry and Etta (Bruns) Muller. She graduated from the Dumont High School in 1953. On October 22, 1954, Tillie was united in marriage to Elwood Geiken in the Dumont Reformed Church.

Tillie loved fishing, camping, gardening, cooking, and baking. Throughout the years she could be found playing cards with friends, ‘losing track of time’ at the casino, or up to some friendly mischief with her friends. For many years she owned a bar and grill with her husband, and worked a variety of jobs, before retiring. Whatever job she did, she did it well, and with a positive, humorous attitude. She had a helpful spirit and was always up for an adventure. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Tillie is survived by her son Myron (Lavon) Geiken of Ackley, daughter Joyce Geiken of Ackley, grandchildren Jamie (Jacob) Lohr of Des Moines, Chad Geiken of Waterloo, Kelly Oelmann of North Liberty, Bobbi Oelmann of Des Moines and Adrian Aswegen of Grimes, great-grandchildren, Dayinara Campbell of West Des Moines, Tara Geiken of Waterloo, Alexis Geiken of Iowa Falls, Zander Geiken of Waterloo, Savanna Dulay of Des Moines and Jacob Elwood Lohr of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, all her siblings and her great-granddaughter Katherine Anne Campbell.
