Ronald Eugene Hoffmeyer was born on August 28, 1938 to Louie and Maybelle (Barlow) Hoffmeyer at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Estherville on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the age of 83.
On July 30, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lorraine Ellen Hanson in Jackson, Minnesota. Ron lived most of his life in Estherville where he was employed with the City of Estherville and also did custom farming. In 1975 the couple moved to Ivanhoe, Minnesota where Ron farmed for four years and milked dairy cattle. They returned back home to Estherville in 1979. Ron worked for the secondary road crew for Emmet County for 21 years. After retirement, he worked as a custodian for Iowa Lakes Community College and the Emmet County Court House. Lorraine died in 2020.
Ron enjoyed hunting, fishing, Green Bay Packers, the Black Knight’s Car Club. He loved his family and grandkids and great-grandkids and family picnics and outings. He attended the Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville.
Ron is survived by his children: Rick (DeeAnn) Hoffmeyer of Estherville, Brenda (Jerome) Brue of Sioux Falls, Heidi (Scott) Bakke of Sioux Falls, Kelly (Jeff) Kroenke of Estherville, Pam (Dave) Jones of Estherville, and Steve (Kim) Hoffmeyer of Ellis, South Dakota; 23 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; parents, Louis and Mabel Hoffmeyer; siblings, Jerry Hoffmeyer and infant sister, Linda Hoffmeyer and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Mary Hanson.
