Jeannette Underberg, age 92, of Livermore, passed away on November 13, 2021 at the Kossuth Regional Health Center in Algona. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Friday November 19th at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at Lentz Funeral Home in Algona.
Jeannette Ann Underberg, the daughter of Erik Olaus and Elma Wilhelmia (Swanson) Ryan, was born on November 11, 1929 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1947. In High School she was Miss Eagle Grove and the Band Queen. On January 10, 1954 Jeannette was united in marriage with Kenneth Underberg in Eagle Grove. She had worked as the secretary to the Superintendent for TRV schools and later at the Bode CoOp. Jeannette was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, quilting at church and home, baking, growing and canning tomatoes, gardening, animals, following Iowa State football and basketball and spending time with her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Jeannette’s memory is her husband of 67 years, Kenneth; children, Erik (Brenda) Underberg of Livermore, Lisa (Mike) Hogan of Sioux Falls, SD and Sue (Kevin) Burt of Nevada, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Tom and Bob Ryan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Jeannette’s name and directed to the donor’s favorite charity or to St Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode, Iowa. The Lentz Funeral Home in Algona is serving the family.
