A memorial Mass for Sue will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at the Divine Mercy Parish ~ St. Cecelia Catholic Church in Algona. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM on Monday, November 1, 2021, at Oakcrest Funeral Services. Inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM on November 4, 2021, at the Iowa Veteran Cemetery in Van Meter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kossuth County Cancer Foundation or Hospice of the Heartland. Suzanne Ruth was born on July 28, 1954; to Yvonne and Robert Holtzbauer in Algona, Iowa. Sue, as she was affectionately called, was the oldest of 7 kids Lynn Fett, Lori (Brian) Geitzenauer, Bob (LeAnn) Holtzbauer, Janet (Dion) Radig, Michael (Gina) Holtzbauer, and Mary Beth (Bob) Kuhlmann.

Sue grew up in Algona attending Garrigan High School class of 1972. After high school she attended school in Kansas City to become a flight attendant. Upon graduation she returned to Algona where she met Bob Stoffel the love of her life. They were married on July 5, 1975, built a home, and started a family. Sue stayed home and raised her three wonderful children Bryan (Kelly) Stoffel, Amanda (Sam) Scott, and Eric (Ben) Stoffel. Once the children were grown Sue began working at Solbach’s Pharmacy and Gift store on Main Street. She would greet everyone with a smile and a friendly conversation. After Solbach’s closed, Sue was employed by Iowa Lakes Community College, where she enjoyed being a proctor until she retired in August 2020. She loved being a Nana (Grandma) to Kayden Stoffel, Nicklas and Kaitlynn Scott, spending any time she could with them.

Sue passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, surrounded by loved ones. She was 67

She was an amazing wife, mother, grandma, sister, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. She was met in heaven by her Father Robert Holtzbauer, Grandma Helen Egel, Grandparents Andrew and Francis Holtzbauer, Grandfather Eric Ericson, in-laws Roy and Alma Stoffel, Brother-in-law Kevin Fett, Sister and Brother-in-law Marilyn (Stoffel) and Tom Hudspeth, Aunt Sister Ruth Marie Holtzbauer, along with many other loved ones.
