On Saturday, October 9 at approximately 10:53 P.M., the Webster County Telecommunications Center received information of a loud party near 1044 North 26th Street in Fort Dodge. Information provided at that time indicated Approximately forty (40) individuals were at this residence. As officers were responding, another call was received indicating shots were fired at this same residence.
When officers arrived on scene, numerous individuals were fleeing the area. Additionally, officers were informed that a female has been shot near the backyard of the residence. Officers located a 15‐year‐old female with a single gunshot wound to the upper chest. Immediate medical treatment was given to the female before medics with the Fort Dodge Fire Department arrived shortly after.
Upon investigation into this incident, it was discovered that several shots were fired by an unknown suspect, striking the female juvenile. Officers spoke with several witnesses in the area, but no suspect was located. The female victim was taken by Life Flight to a Des Moines area hospital in unknown condition.
The Fort Dodge Police Department is continuing to look into this incident.
Anyone who may have information, is strongly encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately. It is believed the incident was related to those attending the party and not a random act.
