OBIT: Arlene Merle Sampson

Arlene M. Sampson, 90 of Mason City, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center after a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Open Bible Church, 509 S 17th St, Clear Lake, IA 50428 with Rev. Will Hunsaker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
Visitation and public viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA 50401.

Arlene Merle Harless was born July 28, 1931 in Mason City, the daughter of Wallace and Mary “Dolly” (Foster) Harless. She attended Mason City Schools, graduating from Mason City High School in 1949. On September 16, 1950 she married the love of her life, Donald C. Sampson, and the couple was blessed with five children, Mark, Renee, Craig, Paul, and Michele. Arlene worked at Iowa Hardware Mutual Insurance Company for six years before becoming a full-time housewife and mother.

Arlene and Donald enjoyed traveling while working on family genealogy including attending many family reunions. She found great joy in discovering she and Donald’s family histories.

Arlene and Donald were longtime members of the Open Bible Church of Clear Lake, and found peace knowing they were saved Christians.

Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 70 years, Donald; her children, Mark (Carla) Sampson of Glendale, CA, Renee (Michael) Arens of Mason City, Craig (Marcia) Sampson of Mason City, Paul (Arlene) Sampson of Alleman, IA and Michele Sampson of Mason City; grandchildren, Nicole (Kathy) Jacobs, Kasi (Shane) Godbold, Sarah-Jo (Matt) Scaparotti, Tyler Sampson, Sam Sampson, Anna (Frank III) Williams, John-Paul (Beth St. Claire) Arens, Nicholas (Andrea Flores) Arens, Jennifer (Curt) Stoltenberg, Russell (Amber) Sampson, Joe Latham and Katie (Tim Sprague) Latham; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Ty, Dylan, Carly, Jayden, Selah, Barrett, Maxwell, Beckett, Andrei, Roen, Colin, Cora, and Jack; her sister-in-law, Neta Harless and niece, Teresa (Steve) {Harless} Shada; as well as numerous extended family members and treasured friends.
Greeting her in Heaven are her parents, Wallace and Mary, and her brother, Gary Harless.
