MASON CITY – Mason City police are investigating after a man was shot while walking down the street.
On Saturday, June 12, 2021, at 10:12 p.m., Mason City Police Officers responded to a shooting at 1st Street NW and North Madison Avenue. The report was that several shots were fired. When officers arrived they found one person at the scene who had a gunshot wound to the leg.
The injured party was transported to MercyOne North Iowa by Mason City Fire Department personnel. The leg injury was not life threatening.
Officers completed a neighborhood canvass and collected evidence from the scene. The victim reported that he had been walking down the street when he was shot at. Based on the information available at this time, MCPD believes this is a targeted incident and not a random shooting.
