Des Moines truck driver causes major damage to Charles City fuel pump

CHARLES CITY – A Des Moines truck driver caused major damage to Charles City fuel pump.

The incident took place on the evening of June 4, 2021, Charles City police say. Officers were called to the 1500 block of South Grand Avenue for an accident involving a semi that had struck a gas pump. Ahmed Mohamed, age 57, of Des Moines attempted to pull up to a fuel pump and struck the pump with the trailer of the semi. Police say that the damage to the semi and trailer was only minor scratches but there was an estimated $20,000 of damage to the pump.

It does not yet appear that Mohamed was cited by police in the incident.
