SHEFFIELD, IOWA – West Fork boys basketball coach Frank Schnoes announced his retirement.

Head coach Frank Schnoes will be stepping away from the boys basketball program “as one of the greatest ever,” the program announced via social media. “Always a class act. Thank you for everything, what a career.”

Schnoes said in a statement, “I have decided to hang up my whistle & jump into full-time retirement. I started coaching in 1974 at Shelby-Tennant, then moved on to Calumet and finished up in Sheffield coaching at S-C, then SC/ MT and finally with West Fork. I want to thank all the players that I coached over all those years for their dedication, hard work and effort. To the parents that entrusted their sons with me to learn some basketball. To the school boards and administrators for supporting the basketball programs. Thanks to all the junior high and assistant coaches for their time and hard work helping develop these young men in learning the skills and strategies of basketball. A special thank you to Cheryl for all her support and understanding all these years. I feel blessed to coach a sport that is special to me for as long as I have and will continue to follow WF in my retirement. Thanks everyone for the memories.”

A search for a coach will commence by school administration.
