FAYETTE COUNTY – An Iowa man was recently killed in a motorcycle accident in Fayette county.On April 3, 2021 at 10:06 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received several 911 calls reporting a motorcycle accident on D Ave north of Delta Rd. An investigation determined that Troy Lynn Shaffer, age 52 from Pella, Iowa, was operating a 2002 Honda VTX southbound on D Ave. While negotiating a left hand curve, the motorcycle left the roadway, entered the west ditch and overturned.
As a result of the accident, Schaffer was transported to Mercy One in Oelwein, Iowa where he was pronounced deceased.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Arlington Fire Dept and Ambulance and Gunderson Air. The incident remains under investigation.
