College Wrestling: UNI’s Teske, Keckeisen earn top pre-seeds for Big 12 Championships

IRVING, Texas – UNI wrestlers Brody Teske and Parker Keckeisen were awarded the top seeds in the Big 12 Championships Pre-seeds for the tournament set for this weekend at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Keckeisen is the top seed at 184. He finished the regular season with a 9-0 record, including a 3-0 record against Big 12 opponents. He picked up wins over returning All-Americans Dakota Geer and Sam Colbray in the process.

Teske is ranked No. 1 at 125. He finished the regular season 8-1 with a 5-0 record in Big-12 duals. He picked up a major decision, a tech fall and a pin against Big 12 wrestlers.

Carter Isley is ranked second at heavyweight. He went 6-2 during the regular season with the lone Big 12 loss coming against top-seeded Gannon Gremmel from Iowa State.

Lance Runyon and Triston Lara enter the tournament with the fourth seed in their respective weights.

Lara is fourth at 149 where he went 4-4 on the season in one of the toughest weight classes in the Big 12. His three Big 12 losses were close bouts against Top-15 wrestlers and he closed the season with an impressive pin against returning all-American Jarrett Degen.

Runyon went 6-4 on the year and 4-1 in Big 12 duals. His lone loss in Big 12 action came against Oklahoma State’s Dustin Plott who is ranked 20th.

The final UNI wrestler to receive a rank is Austin Yant who received the No. 7 ranking at 165. Yant wrestled just one bout this year, a 3-2 win over SDSU’s Colten Carlson. Yant finished seventh in the Big 12 championship a year ago.
