Two alleged North Iowa burglars arrested after long police investigation

ALGONA – Two alleged North Iowa burglars were arrested after a long police investigation.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), filed charges and arrested two area individuals, after a 13-month investigation that was reported over a year ago.
A burglary at the rural Bancroft residence of Ordean and Opal Kabrick, was reported on January 12th, 2020. The couple were victims of a burglary that occurred at their residence while they were not home. The suspects stole a large safe containing a large sum of cash, jewelry, collector coins, and personal papers and documents. Deputies from the sheriff’s office worked the case and called in assistance from the DCI since the investigation involved locating evidence that would be discovered in surrounding counties and into the State of Minnesota.

Two individuals were arrested as a result of the investigation:

Weston James Martinson, Age 23, of Buffalo Center Iowa was charged with Theft in the First Degree, a Class C Felony, (theft in the first degree is theft of property exceeding $10,000 dollars in value) and Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony.

Gabriel Truman Quisling, Age 24, currently from Spirit Lake Iowa, was charged with Theft in the First Degree, a Class C felony, (theft in the first degree is theft of property exceeding $10,000 dollars in value) and Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony. Quisling was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia as a result of a search warrant at his residence from January of 2020 while he was a resident of Bancroft Iowa.

Both individuals are currently in custody at the Kossuth County Jail awaiting their initial appearance before a Judge.

Agencies that assisted the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation were the DCI, Winnebago Sheriff’s Office, Bancroft Police Department, and the Kossuth County Attorney’s Office.
