Charles City woman cited after running stop sign, colliding with man’s vehicle

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City woman was cited by police after running a stop sign and colliding with a man’s vehicle.

Charles City police say the accident took place on January 26. At about 8:28 AM that morning, officers investigated a two vehicle accident at the intersection of E Street and Highway 18. A black 2008 Ford Edge driven by 38-year-old Crystal Reed of Charles City was both bound on E Street when she failed to obey the stop sign and went through the intersection where she was struck by a blue 2017 Nissan Altima driven by 52-year-old Kris Ward of Charles City who was eastbound on Highway 18 at the time.

As a result of the crash, Reed’s vehicle sustained $4,000 in damages, police say, while Ward’s vehicle sustained $5,000 in damages.

Reed was cited for failure to obey the stop sign, a simple misdemeanor.
