OMAHA – The UNI volleyball team fell 3-0 to the #15 Creighton on the road Sunday afternoon, falling with set scores of 15-25, 22-15, 17-25.
1st Set: Creighton took the lead early and maintained the led throughout the set. The Bluejays moved out to a 5-point lead at 18-13 and never looked back, taking the set 25-15. UNI finished with 7 kills and 1 service ace while recording a -.080 hitting percentage. The set saw 2 ties and 1 lead change.
2nd Set: The Panthers continued to struggle against the #15 Bluejays in the second set, trailing 8-4 early.The Panthers trail 15-9 at the mid set media timeout. UNI closed the gap to a single point at 20-19 and again at 23-23 but could not hold off the Bluejays, falling 25-22. Uni finished with 11 kills on 31 attacks for a .161 hitting percentage. The Panthers added 3 blocks.
3rd Set: The Panthers trailed the Bluejays 6-2 early in the final set. The Bluejays moved out to a 7-point lead at 16-9 and pushed their way to a final set 25- 17 victory. UNI finished the set with 10 kills and 1 ace.
THE PANTHERS:
-UNI finished with 28 kills on 83 attacks and 22 attack errors for a .072 hitting percentage.
-The Panthers recorded 28 assists and 27 digs.
-Emily Holterhaus had 21 total attacks with 9 kills for a team leading .286 hitting percentage.
-Freshman Yagmur Cinel finished with 7 kills.
-Tayler Alden finished with 22 assists and 5 digs.
THE BLUEJAYS:
-The Jays finished with 38 kills on 80 attacks with 12 errors for a .325 hitting percentage.
-Creighton recorded 34 assists and 29 digs and 5 blocks.
-Jaela Zimmerman finished with 12 kills while Keeley Davis recorded 11.
-Keeley Davis finished with a team high .474 hitting percentage.
