MALLARD, IOWA – A Northern Iowa post office was damaged by a driver who slammed into a drop box.
On November 14, 2020 at 2:10 PM, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one vehicle accident that had occurred at the Mallard Post Office. Upon investigation it was determined that Karen Ann Bachman of Mallard was exiting the parking lot in her white 2016 Dodge Dart when she struck a postal service drop box. The postal service drop box was forced into a large window on the post office breaking the glass.
Damage to the Dodge is estimated at $2,000.00, damage to the drop box is estimated at $1,200.00 and damage to the building is estimated at $1,000.00. There were no injuries reported on scene.
