Iowa woman dead after fleeing from attempted police traffic stop

DAVENPORT, IOWA – An Iowa woman is dead after fleeing from an attempted police traffic stop Saturday in the Quad Cities area.

On Saturday, November 1, 2020 at about 4:35 PM, an Iowa State trooper attempted a traffic stop on a 2005 Buick PC driven by 31-year-old Kathryn Anne Burkhead of Donahue, Iowa in the Quad Cities area on Interstate 80. Burkhead refused to stop and exited Interstate 80 onto Interstate 280, then exited onto Kimberly Road. Traveling eastbound, Burkhead lost control of her vehicle near Wisconsin Avenue and entered oncoming traffic. The Buick PC was struck broadside by a 2013 Jeep SUV driven by 22-year-old Emilie Anne Heggen of Iowa City. Burkhead’s Buick PC rolled onto its roof as the Jeep entered a ditch.

As a result of the collision, Burkhead was pronounced dead at the scene. Heggen was transported to a hospital by medics.
