Rural confrontation lands Northern Iowa man behind bars

FAYETTE COUNTY – A rural Northern Iowa man took his gun to confront hunters and now he’s confronted with steel bars and felony charges.

On September 19, 2020, at approximately 5:20 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office took a 911 call of two individuals hunting near the 24000 Block of Rose Road when a third individual pulled up in a vehicle with a firearm and made threatening comments towards the victims. Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted multiple interviews. Upon completion of the investigation, Thomas Edward Heyer, age 61 of West Union, Iowa, was arrested and charged with Going Armed with Intent, a Class D Felony; 2 counts of Assault with a dangerous Weapon, and 2 counts of Harassment 1st Degree, all Aggravated Misdemeanors.

Heyer was taken into custody without incident, and transported to Fayette County Jail, where he awaited initial appearance.
