CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man arrested after a violent attack will spend up to 10 years in prison.
Kristopher Viers, age 36 of Charles City, confronted a person on September 9, 2019. Charles City police say he beat and choked a person before stealing a pickup truck and leaving the scene. The crime was reported and an arrest warrant for Viers was issued by a judge. Police located Viers the next day, on September 10 at about 7:54 PM in the 200 block of 1st Avenue. Viers faced charges of felony first-degree theft and felony willful injury causing serious injury.
Viers entered guilty pleas to reduced charges of second-degree burglary and assault causing injury. He received concurrent 10 and 5 year prison terms, respectively.
