DES MOINES – Sen. Bernie Sanders’ campaign in Iowa this weekend opened 8 new campaign offices across the state and knocked over 11,000 doors in 48 hours.
“This is what the strongest ground game looks like. We’re building the largest grassroots movement of working class Iowans our state has ever seen, and our volunteers are setting a record pace,” said Bernie 2020 Iowa Field Director Michael Fasullo. “With these new offices, we’re expanding our reach across the state and giving our supporters the tools they need to bring new folks into the political process and win the caucus in February.”

The 8 new campaign offices were opened in Marshalltown, Burlington, Newton, Carroll, Fort Dodge, Indianola, Ankeny and Decorah, bringing the total number of campaign offices to 22 statewide. The campaign has over 133 staff on the ground in the state.

The over 11,000 doors knocked this weekend add to the over 100,000 doors knocked in Iowa since the launch of the campaign. In addition, Sanders field staff in Iowa have made over 3 million voter contact attempts and held more organizing trainings than any other campaign.

The expansion of Sanders’ grassroots movement comes as two new polls of Iowa show Sanders surging in the Hawkeye state. Saturday’s Des Moines Register-CNN poll found Sanders gaining 4 points and Sunday’s CBS News-YouGov poll found Sanders overtaking first place with 22%.

The Des Moines Register-CNN poll also found that 57 percent of Sanders supporters say their mind is completely made up in their decision to support Sanders, while no other candidate hits 30 percent in the same metric.
