MARION COUNTY, IOWA – A joyous occasion turned tragic for Iowans this weekend when an unexlplained explosion sent debris hurtling through the air, striking and killing a woman.

Police in Marion county, southwest of Des Moines, say that the freak accident occurred Saturday, October 26 during a “gender reveal” party, where parents announce whether their expected baby is a boy or girl. During the reveal of the baby’s sex, there was an explosion. Debris was sent hurtling through the air and a woman, 56-year-old Pamela Kreimeyer, was struck and killed by a piece of metal debris.  She was standing nearly 4 dozen feet from the party device when it exploded like a bomb.

Police have so far declined to release further details about the tragic incident, not even the sex of the baby.

    1. I had that same thought. Whose stupid idea was it to put something that ridiculous in such a tragic story?? That’s lower than poor taste, and even in a satire piece would be considered too low. VERY disappointing.
