CHARLES CITY – An Iowa man who barricaded himself in a Charles City apartment back in August, armed with a weapon, has served his sentence and been placed on probation.
According to Charles City police, on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 12:41 AM, their department responded to a call of an assault involving a firearm in an apartment in the 100 block of 13th Avenue. Upon arrival, the officers found the victim was able to leave the apartment. The suspect would not come out of the apartment. The North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force-Special Operations Group (SOG) tactical team was called. After several hours, at 4:47 AM, Kaleb Wright, 26, of Dallas Center, Iowa was taken into custody and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.
Wright later pled guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. He was given 365 days in jail with all but 30 days suspended. He was put on 2 years of probation, and he is banned from possessing firearms as a result of this conviction. He was also ordered to pay $983.75 in fines and court fees.
