CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man arrested after an alleged violent attack remains jailed and is scheduled for a jury trial.

Kristopher Viers, age 36 of Charles City, allegedly confronted a person on September 9, 2019. Charles City police say he beat and choked a person before stealing a pickup truck and leaving the scene. The crime was reported and an arrest warrant for Viers was issued by a judge.  Police located Viers the next day, on September 10 at about 7:54 PM in the 200 block of 1st Avenue.  Viers is now facing charges of felony first-degree theft and felony willful injury causing serious injury.

Viers remains in the Floyd county jail. A jury trial is now scheduled for December 10, 2019. A pre-trial conference is set for November 25, where a possible plea bargain could be reached.
