AMES – An Ames convenience store was robbed Monday morning and the clerk was bound and injured by the crook, police say.

On August 5, 2019, at 5:07 AM, the Ames Police Department responded to a report of an armed robbery at Doc’s Stop, 2720 E. 13th Street. According to the convenience store employee, a suspect entered the store and displayed a handgun. The suspect demanded money and exited the store with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee received minor injuries from being bound during the robbery. The victim was treated at Mary Greeley Medical Center.

The suspect was described as a male wearing black clothing and a black hoodie. No further descriptors were provided to officers.

Investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department.

    hammer wouldnt have helped. waiting for the robber to pay attention to anything else for a second and producing a legal pistol and driving a couple into some dindus head is a better option. we need less dindus around iowa. simple. maybe if kim reynolds cares she will outlaw section 8

    Remember the store clerk in Ankeny who took a hammer to the would-be robber? That story had a happy ending.

    you should really carry a firearm if youre going to be in a career that exposes you to large volumes of people from every walk of life. most clerks have some type of self defense tool. Everyone should.
