FORT DODGE – A Fort Dodge convenience store was robbed and a young man is behind bars, charged in the incident.

On July 1, 2019, at approximately 1:04 AM, the Webster County Telecommunications Center received a 911 call from an employee at New Star Mini Mart, 1923 5th Avenue South, indicating that they had just been robbed. Fort Dodge Police officers responded to the scene where they learned that a male presented a weapon to an employee demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the male left the store running west.

Fort Dodge Police did a thorough search for the suspect in the surrounding area but were unable to locate him. The suspect was described as a white male, with a larger build, wearing a mask to cover his face, a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
Fort Dodge Police Department Patrol Division and Criminal Investigations Division developed information and leads on an offender in the robbery. This afternoon, Fort Dodge Police arrested Dakota J. Remme, 19 of Fort Dodge, on the following charges:

– Robbery in the First Degree (B Felony)
– Going Armed with Intent (C Felony)
– Trafficking Stolen Weapons (C Felony)

Remme was due for his initial appearance in Webster County Magistrate Court on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

At this time investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division are continuing to follow up on this incident. Anyone with information is on this incident is encouraged to contact the Fort Dodge Police. Information may also be submitted anonymously via Crime Stoppers.

There were no injuries reported in this incident.
