NORTHWOOD – A North Iowa man who committed a vicious stabbing in Northwood has been sentenced to prison for 25 years.
On June 02, 2018 at approximately 10:48 PM, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 phone calls in reference to a stabbing that occurred at 607 7th Street N in Northwood. Upon arrival, deputies observed a victim, 25-year-old Andrew Nodtvedt of Manly, with multiple stab and slashing wounds. Andrew was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa with non-life threatening wounds and has since been treated and released.
On June 4, 2018, 31-year-old Trapp Trotter turned himself in to authorities and was taken into custody on charges of Attempted Murder, Burglary in the First Degree, and Criminal Mischief.
The Worth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this matter by the Iowa State Patrol, Northwood Fire and Rescue, Mason City Ambulance, and Mercy Air Med.
A jury in Bremer county found Trotter guilty of felony B attempted murder and felony B first-degree burglary. He was sentenced this week to 25 years in prison.
