NIACC’s Swart sets school high jump record

COUNCIL BLUFFS – NIACC freshman Eric Swart set the school’s high jump record with a leap of 6 feet, 6 3/4 inches with his third place finish at the NJCAA Region XI meet on Sunday.

Swart, who is from Gilbert, broke the old mark of 6-4 3/4 held by Jacob Gapp (2013) and Luke Arrowood (2014).

The NIACC men’s 4×100-meter relay team placed third in a time of 42.19 seconds. The Trojans ran Timothi McMaster, Kyle Younker, Kalen Eastman and Brendan Hoy.

NIACC placed fifth in the team standings with 37 points. Iowa Central was the team champion with 374 points and Iowa Western was second with 208 points.

Also the high jump, NIACC’s Alec Hayes was fourth (6-4).

In the 5,000 meters, NIACC’s Gavin Connell was fourth in a time of 16 minutes, 37.11 seconds.

In the javelin, NIACC’s Jacob Henjum was fifth with a toss of 35.46 meters.
