CEDAR RAPIDS – The third-seeded NIACC softball team will face sixth-seeded Iowa Lakes at 4 p.m. Friday in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament on the Kirkwood campus.
Second-seeded Kirkwood (44-13 overall) plays seventh-seeded Ellsworth (17-37) at 2 p.m. on Friday in the double-elimination tournament.
No. 20 NIACC (28-16 overall) won all four regular season games against Iowa Lakes (17-33) this season. The Lady Trojans won 9-5 and 15-9 on March 31 in Estherville and won 13-3 and 9-1 on April 14 in Mason City.
The winner of the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament advances to district play and will face the NJCAA Region XIII winner in a 3-game series at Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont. on May 15-16.
