WATERLOO – A reward is now being offered in the case of a Waterloo car shooting that took a woman’s life.
On Sunday, April 28th, 2019 at approximately 2:30 AM Waterloo Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highway 218, near the Greenhill exit. When police arrived they found a single vehicle off the roadway on the southbound side of 218, on the Greenhill off ramp. The vehicle was occupied by three adults.
At this time, we have determined that the vehicle was traveling southbound on 218 from Cedar Falls heading into Waterloo when a bullet penetrated the driver’s window, striking the driver, Micalla Rettinger age 25, in the neck, she later died from this injury. A passenger, Adam Kimball age 32 was also injured and is currently at University of Iowa Hospitals where he is being treated for his injuries. The third passenger in the vehicle was uninjured.
The Waterloo Police Department has determined that the victims were returning home from work when this incident occurred. There is nothing to indicate the victims in this case were in anyway involved in any activity that would have caused them to be targeted in this manner.
We are asking for the public’s help in locating any person who may be involved in shooting or hunting (legal or illegal) in the area of the Cedar River between the Highway 218 Bridge and the Conger Ave Bridge.
