CCPD

CHARLES CITY – A youngster was caught trying to steal car in Charles City and it landed him in a juvenile facility.

On April 22, 2019 at about 6:40 PM, officers with the Charles City police department went to the 2100 block of Clark street and witnessed a person trying to steal a car. He allegedly broke a window out of a vehicle. Police say that the culprit was a male juvenile who was on house arrest and had fled their residence. The culprit ran on foot as officers approached and ended up in the Elk’s pond in a vain attempt to evade officers. The male juvenile was eventually caught and charged with third-degree attempted burglary of a motor vehicle, fourth-degree criminal mischief and interference with official acts.

The juvenile – who was not named – was referred to the juvenile court authority and was sent to a facility.
