Hahahahaha still idolizing a man who wrote a musical about a situation he witnessed and over exaggerated in mason city many years ago. Why are millions spent on keeping this alive? Bye bye mason city, you have nothing to offer.

not to worry sodbuster ! Worth county already has replacement windmill coming = 607 FEET HIGH !!!!

Meanwhile – remember a few weeks back we said oi;/grease was running down the sides of some Bartz worthless county windmills ? DNR called – they said as long as it did not enter the ground it was okay – some windmills are broken and do not spin – other spin freely – now one of the green energy monsters has caught fire – nice to know where my tax dollars went? – UP IN FLAMES !

Why celebrate a man who would dress up in black face?

Why not??

He’s racist!

People who call other people racist are the real racist. It was considered comedy, just like your comments.

That’s been said before, can’t you come up with some new redundant material. Amos and Andy was comedy, Sanford and Son was comedy. Putting on a black face and trying to be a black person is not comedy. It’s making fun of the black race.

Why celebrate Meredith Willson? Why not? He lived in a different time during which the standards by which society judged actions proper or not proper, blackface would have been considered okay by the majority of the population. During the 20s and 30s this country recovering economic disaster and the worries were with the next meal, not what was right or wrong. Willson has done a great deal for this community.

So what your saying is, it was wrong to remove Confederate statues and memorials across this country. Those statues were part of American history, like it or not.

Wilson and his family did nothing but make money off of this community. Now we praise him for writing a musical that will be completely forgotten elsewhere very soon.

wow another exciting moment in river city-

Why not have it in the bandshell in east park?

music man square…Meredith Wilson

I know, I was just trying to put a dig in for the bandshell, that no real band will ever use. A hundred thousand dollar eyesore.

Perhaps you could find money to build one more suitable to your liking.

For your information, a useable modern bandshell with unique features was designed, but the powers that be shot it down. And it wasn’t because of money. Try to keep up on MC history.

It’s only “a hundred thousand dollar eyesore” to you Allen. Some of us enjoy the band shell and would like to see it kept up. It is a reminder of simpler times. If you think about it Allen, you got off cheap. Figure 25000 citizens in Mason City and $4 from each of them, you have $100,000. You paid $4 on that eyesore. Get over it.

Exactly how do you enjoy the bandshell.
