Three men hurt in collision Friday evening in rural Mason City

MASON CITY – Three men were hurt in a collision in rural Mason City Friday evening.

Cerro Gordo county deputies were dispatched to the intersection of 285th and Mallard Avenue on the evening go April 26, 2019 for a 2 vehicle accident with injuries. When deputies arrived on scene, both vehicles were in the east ditch. The driver of the first vehicle is identified as Joshua S prague, age 42 of Mason City. He was traveling southbound on Mallard Ave in red 1994 GMC Sierra. The driver of the second vehicle is identified as David Perkins, age 59 of West Des Moines, Iowa. He was traveling northbound on Mallard Ave. in a black 2011 Lincoln MKX. Eyewitnesses stated that Sprague crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lane colliding into Perkins vehicle.

Passenger in Perkins vehicle, identified as Darrin Kofron, age 53 of Mason City, IA was injured in the accident. Kofron as well as the two drivers were transported to Mercy ER with unknown injuries. The investigation continues.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Mason City Fire Dept. and Clear Lake Fire Dept.
