AMES – Three men are in jail after a violent robbery in Ames.
On April 10, 2019, at 6:56 p.m., Ames Police were called the 1100 block of Grand Avenue for a report of a fight in progress. Officers arrived in the area but they were unable to locate anyone involved in a fight. A short time later, officers were called to Mary Greeley Medical Center for a report of a male who was being treated for a stab wound after he was transported by private vehicle to the hospital. According to the victim, he was assaulted by several men on Grand Avenue and then stabbed in the abdomen, by a male as he attempted to flee the area. The victim has been identified as Ramiro J. Gonzales III, age 43, of Ellsworth. The victim was released from the hospital on April 11th.
As a result of follow-up investigation, the following individuals have been charged and arrested:
Tyrrell R. Scheuermann, age 22, of Story City
• Robbery 1st degree, a class “B” felony
Gustaf R. Carlson, age 45, of Ames
• Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony
• Harassment 1st degree, aggravated misdemeanor
Jason R. Darland, age 22, of Slater
• Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony
Investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department.
