IOWA CITY – Richard Edison Johnson was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 9:44 a.m. on March 25, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Prior to his death at UIHC, Johnson was in Palliative care. Johnson was 88 years old at the time of his death.
Johnson had been serving time for attempted murder from Scott County. His sentence began on July 13, 2007.
