CHICAGO – Iowa’s easy ride in the Big Ten Tournament came crashing down to earth Friday night when the buzzsaw that is Michigan Wolverine basketball humbled the Hawkeyes, 73-54.
Iowa’s shots were falling early, but soon, the vaunted Michigan defense took its toll and the Hawks began to hang their heads. Defense became an issue for Iowa as Michigan built a double-digit lead at the halftime and built upon it in the second half.
Tyler Cook and Luka Garza each scored 14 points for Iowa. Iowa sharpshooter Jordan Bohannon only managed to get off two shots the entire game.
Iowa awaits a likely NCAA Tournament berth announcement later this weekend. The Hawkeye’s easy victory over Illinois Thursday helped solidify Iowa’s seeding and likelihood of getting a berth.
