Charles City man arrested for drunk driving after allegedly fleeing accident scene

CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man has been arrested for drunk driving after allegedly fleeing an accident scene.

The incident took place on the evening of March 6.  That day, at about 5:12 PM, officers with the Charles City police department went to the corner of 2nd Street and Clinton Street for a report of a hit and run accident.  At the scene, officers discovers a 1998 Honda owned by Tori Winchester of Charles City had suffered approximately $750.00 in damage.  After investigation, officers soon discovered 47-year-old Jeffrey Bishop of Charles City in the 500 block of Cedar Street.  He was charged with second-offense operating while intoxicated, open container, no insurance, leaving the scene of an accident, and no valid driver’s license.

Bishop was jailed and soon released, pending a court appearance.
