INDIANAPOLIS – The Iowa women’s basketball team won its third Big Ten Tournament Title and first since 2001 Sunday by beating regular season champion Maryland, 90-76. It is the second tournament title under head coach Lisa Bluder.
Senior Megan Gustafson has scored 40 or more points three times this season and four times in her career. She has netted 30 or more points 12 times – a mark that leads the NCAA.
Gustafson registered her 85th career double-double (45 points, 10 rebounds). It is her 30th double-double of the season.
Three Hawkeyes scored in double figures. They include: Megan Gustafson (45), Tania Davis (14) and Kathleen Doyle (13). Former Mason City Mohawk Makenzie Meyer scored 7 points and had 5 assists.
Gustafson’s 45 points are a Big Ten Championship game record.
Iowa went 25-for-30 from the free-throw line, including 10-for-12 in the 4th quarter.
