Worth county sheriff reports two vehicle rollover accidents Saturday, warns drivers to take caution

NORTHWOOD – The Worth county sheriff reported two vehicle rollover accidents Saturday evening on icy roads and warns drivers to take caution.

On December 15, 2018 at 9:08 PM, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a single vehicle rollover with 2 occupants near the intersection of 355th Street and Fir Avenue near Hanlontown. The 2 occupants were not injured. The incident was investigated at the location and was determined the driver lost control because the driver hit an ice patch and lost control. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Hanlontown and Fertile Fire Departments, and Forest City Ambulance.

On December 15, 2018 at 9:21 PM, the Worth County Sheriff’s Office received another 911 call of another rollover near the intersection of 370th Street and Partridge Avenue. The call was a single vehicle rollover with 2 occupants. The 2 occupants were not injured. The incident was investigated and was determined the driver also lost control on an ice patch on the gravel road. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Manly Police Department, Manly Fire Department and Mason City Ambulance.

The Worth County Sheriff’s Office encourages driving slower on gravel roads due to the gravel roads becoming snow packed which can cause areas to become like ice and lose traction.
