My dad was rearended by walmart on 4th street a few weeks ago. The old lady destroyed a vehicle I just got him less than six months ago. Paid 6200 for a winter 4×4 and she totaled the truck. Over 8k in damages and her insurance only wants to pay out 1500.

DUH!

They are

Where did this happen at?

I was t-boned by a 80+ lady 4 wks ago and got charged Because she was rich. Now am without a car. But her ins payed out to me. Eighty yr olds should be tested every yr to be able to drive.

That include you, should you make it that far ?

Hey I am more then willing to get tested each yr. Iwas half way through the inter section and got hit so I am not understanding what you are trying to say. Are you calling me out.

Being halfway through the intersection has nothing to do with it. If she had the right of way (I’ll bet she did) you were in the wrong and cited. Learn your right from your left. It sounds like the 80 year old was within the law and you were not. You should be tested every year.

I’ve noticed a bunch of people have no idea what right of way means. Old and young all have no idea how to approach an uncontroled intersection. If there are no stop signs or yield signs, the person to your right has the right of way. If someone is to your left, you have the right of way.

Being halfway through the intersection has everything to do with it you idiot. Not only do you need to be tested, you need to turn in your drivers license!

My front end was through the intersection. I was heading west ended up facing NE speed is 25 mph. she admitted she didn’t see me. Her ins payed up my ins said being I get to the intersection first and was that far through I was ok. The lady was from a very wealthy family in the county so ins payed up and I got the ticket. normal small town Iowa what is your name and how much $ do you have.

Under the law it doesn’t make any difference if you were half way through the intersection. If you didn’t have the right of way you were at fault. That is what the law says. What the insurance company does is up to them. Learn your right from your left and don’t go if the person with the right of way is coming.

“If there are no stop signs or yield signs, the person to your right has the right of way. If someone is to your left, you have the right of way”

never mind that this is the #1 rule of driving all over the free world. anyone who makes the assumption that fellow drivers 1) are able to tell right from left, 2) knows the law, AND 3) abides by it, are basically asking for it. remember, this is the mid-west. everyone needs a drivers license here. DOT cant just fail people on the grounds of low cognitive capacity – how would they get around? just look at OP who is convinced that he has the right of way since “he got there first”. I bet a quarter of the population would agree with him, at least, and thus the moral of the story is to never, EVER assume that fellow drivers are not legally blind, drunk, retarded, or all of the above.

How about screening everyone for cognitive and visual deterioration each time a new drivers license is issued? Avoid age discrimination law suits while getting some junkies of the road along with the seniles?

They already do this fr people over 70. Also, they only get two year licenses so they can be checked every two years.

I did not know that! Very good, but makes me wonder how this clearly unfit neighbor of mine manages to pass…
