OBIT: Elizabeth “Betty” Morse

Elizabeth “Betty” (Coe) Morse passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018 at the age of 100, at the IOOF Home in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Elizabeth was born on September 15, 1918 to Raymond and Margaret (Hughett) Coe in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1935 and married W. Lloyd Morse on November 1, 1937 in Northwood, Iowa. Betty enjoyed traveling; her favorite trip was to Alaska. She went on many bus trips to most of the States.

She was a talented seamstress, making a quilt for each of her five kids from fabric scraps that she saved from clothing she made for them. She also liked to knit, work crossword puzzles, read books, and garden. She was a very talented woman, and she loved dark chocolate.

She is survived by her children, Jan Cavanaugh, of Mesa, AZ, Wanda Thompson of Mason City, Arlyn (Marian) Morse of Los Angeles, CA, Vicki Daniel of Scottsdale, AZ and Tim (Micaela) Morse of Antioch, CA; her sister, Beverly (Stan) Lucas of Kensett, IA; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a nephew.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents; and a grandson.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
