CLEAR LAKE – A well-liked educator in Clear Lake has passed away, the school district there announced.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Clear Lake School District said, “All of us at Clear Lake School District were saddened to receive news of the death of the middle school principal, Steve Kwikkel. In his years at Clear Lake, Steve touched the lives of many students, parents, and staff. Students and staff will react in different ways. We should expect, try to understand, and accept a variety of emotions and behaviors. The most important thing we should do is to be supportive and encourage discussion about the event and the feelings it gives rise to. The school district will have AEA Crisis Team Members and local ministers available for staff and students.”
Mr. Kwikkel came to Clear Lake from Waverly in 2013, according to news reports. It was also announced in news reports the Mr. Kwikkel was battling pancreatic cancer and a benefit had been planned earlier this year.
